Art Basel will celebrate its 40th anniversary this June with a new addition to its oeuvre: Il Tempo del Postino, a performance art piece composed of a group of leading visual artists who will create an experimental time-based presentation using a stage as their “gallery.” Art Basel, which takes place June 10-14 in Basel, Switzerland, will showcase works from more than 300 international galleries and includes paintings, drawings, sculptures, installations, photography and video art. This year 75 galleries from the United States will be represented?the most of any country in the show. Art Basel Art Statements, which since 1996 have highlighted works from emerging artists, will present awards to two outstanding projects designed specifically for the show from new and rising galleries throughout the world.
