Aston Martin: Back in Black

Last year, Robb Report and Aston Martin teamed-up to build a limited run of seven all-black V8 Vantage Roadsters for serious collectors. It appears that the British manufacturer liked the concept so much that it came up with a very similar trim level package for its range-topping DBS. Officially billed as the Carbon Black edition, this 2010 special model receives a very stealth-looking color scheme and features several carbon-fiber components. The front splitter, rear diffuser, side mirrors, and interior trim are all made of the woven composite material, but the most interesting implementation of carbon fiber is found in the construction of the leather-wrapped sport seats—saving 37 pounds over the standard DBS model. The Aston Martin Carbon Black also comes with a special plaque for the doorsills differentiating it from the standard DBS. The car’s price will also differentiate it from regular models—adding roughly 5- percent to the coupe or convertible’s sticker price—a small price to pay for owning Aston Martin’s top-of-the-line DBS. Consider the alluring carbon black metallic paint, obsidian black leather with silver stitching, obsidian black Alcantara headliner, and new carbon-fiber components as icing on a cake fit for the Queen of England.
