Ultimate Resort and Private Escapes are now finalizing details of the merger they announced in September 2007, and their combined resources make the unified group a powerful force among destination clubs. Introduced in the summer of 2006, Private Escapes Pinnacle offers oceanfront villas, alpine chalets, and penthouses with an average value of about $3 million. Pinnacle’s current 24 members share six properties, including a four-bedroom oceanfront cottage at the Abaco Club in the Bahamas and a New York City apartment that looks directly onto Times Square’s Waterford Crystal Ball. In 2008, Private Escapes plans to open estates in the Dominican Republic; London; Naples, Italy; Florida; and Vail, Colorado. Ultimate Resort, with more than 750 members, offers beach, golf, mountain, and metropolitan residences in 23 locations throughout the U.S., Mexico, Europe, and the Caribbean. Their technologically “smart” homes feature personalized computers with high-speed Internet access, LCD and plasma TVs, and a digital-arts service that will display family photos throughout the home.
Membership
A $325,000 deposit, $22,000 in annual dues, and $185 nightly fees gives unlimited access to members at the Pinnacle level. At the Ultimate Resort Elite level, members spend from $380,000 to $407,500 and have up to 180 travel days at homes worth an average of $3 million.
