Italian shipyard Sanlorenzo launched its first steel displacement motor yacht in February. Hailing it the new flagship of the fleet, Sanlorenzo’s 144-foot tri-deck 44 Steel yacht sports a steel hull and aluminum superstructure. Sticking to the proven lines of its navetta range, the 44 Steel’s exterior design was conceived by Sanlorenzo’s naval architects with interior natural light in mind.
Guests will appreciate not only the well-lit interior from Francesco Paszkowski, but also the “Beach Club” housed at the stern. A fitness area with a gym, spa, and bathroom adjoins a large bathing platform accessible from the main deck via a main-salon stairway, as well as the exterior cockpit. Unique to this model is the under lower deck, composed of a central tunnel running from bow to stern, which houses the technical and service areas. Five top-notch staterooms comfortably sleep 10 guests, and four crew cabins plus a captain’s quarters accommodate nine crew.
Weighing in at 499 tons to remain under the Safety of Life at Sea-regulation radar, the 44 Steel is powered by two 2,102-horsepower Caterpillar 3512B engines that give her a maximum speed of 17 knots and cruising speed of 15.
