Borrelli

When it introduced its Luxury Vintage label in 2006, Borrelli (212.644.9610, www.borrelliboutiques.com) sought to demonstrate how the fine fabrics and hand-sewn details it employs in its dress shirts and suits could also be used to elevate the quality of sportswear. At the same time, the company sought to give each piece of the collection the appearance and feel of an old wardrobe favorite. Now, Luxury Vintage is a complete collection that includes, among other pieces, fine-gauge cashmere knits, leather outerwear, and boiled Shetland blazers inspired by archival designs. To avoid destroying the hand-stitching through over-processing, Borrelli dyes the fabric—?rather than garment-dyeing the finished piece afterward—and then constructs each item with a tailor’s eye for precision.
