Designer for a Day at Harry Winston

The venerable American jeweler Harry Winston, known for its glamorous diamond and gemstone jewelry, is inviting clients to become part of the creative process. For the first time, the jeweler has created a sketchbook of 75 designs to present to its clients, who can meet with a designer to modify a concept and have piece made to order. “The sketches invite creative conversations as opposed to seeing a finished piece of jewelry,” explains Sandrine de Laage, senior vice president. “Clients are more inclined to provide creative input on a sketch.” The buyer expresses his point of view to the designer who interprets the concept into a highly detailed watercolor design. Next, Winston’s team tracks down the right stones, and the jewelry is made in its New York workshop, discreetly located above the famed Fifth Avenue store. The piece is delivered within two to six months. (800.988.4110)
