Drive with a Legend

Among the Lamborghini faithful, Valentino Balboni is a name synonymous with the Miura, Countach, Diablo, and Murciélago. He has worked with the Italian manufacturer for more than 40 years and has purportedly test-driven roughly 80 percent of all Lamborghinis ever built. “He is one of the very last people still at the factory who worked alongside Ferrucio [Lamborghini],” says Lamborghini president and CEO, Stephan Winkelmann. “Balboni is very important to our brand.”

Thanks to a partnership with Gotham Dream Cars—New York and Miami’s premier exotic car rental company and membership car club—Balboni will give Lamborghini enthusiasts the ride of their lives as the grand marshal of the first-ever Legends Dream Car Tour June 9 and 10. The 150-mile road course will allow participants to drive five of Lamborghini’s latest cars (including Robb Report’s current car of the year, the Gallardo LP 560-4) and experience Balboni’s test-car treatment along some of the most scenic routes in the New York Area. There will be four tours offered on two days—a morning session (8 a.m. to 1 p.m.) and an afternoon session (2 to 7)—and space is limited to 40 total spaces. The $1,495 admission covers all costs (non-driving guests can attend for free with a paying participant) and seats must be reserved in advance at Gotham Dream Cars’ official Web site.
