Harley’s Bulked-up Bruiser

Dicing through Los Angeles traffic on a Harley-Davidson V-Rod Muscle can get a bit—well, dicey. Though its torquey 122 horsepower V-twin generates loads of off-the-line oomph, its taut suspension transmits every last road imperfection to the rider’s rear end. And in spite of its head-turning looks, the V-Rod Muscle is so low-slung it can blend into traffic.

But the V-Rod Muscle can also be seductive. Its feet-forward position and purring powerplant make it a blast to ride fast, and it’s hard not to exude two-wheeled swagger while aboard this 673-lb. power cruiser. Is a water-cooled Harley with a Porsche-designed engine a bit of a paradox? You betcha, but in many ways, that’s what makes the V-Rod Muscle deliciously different than most bikes on the market. $17,199.
