Setting a Modern Brazilian Table

Jorge Arango

The Brazilian furniture and art gallery Espasso has moved into the tableware arena with its new accessories collection. Harnessing the talents of some of the country’s most important designers, including the industrial designer Ruben Simões, and the artist and designer Jacqueline Terpins, the collection consists of clean, contemporary table accessories and flatware, mostly in stainless steel. Some designs, such as those by furniture designer Etel Carmona, are made of ecologically harvested woods; others, such as Isay Weinfeld’s ice bucket, combine both mediums. Some items are available in silver or silver plate. The collection ranges from salt and pepper shakers ($99) to tea and coffee sets ($1,945), and flatware ($3,695). (212.219.0017, www.espasso.com)
