Il Salviatino (+39.055.904. 1111, www.salviatino.com) has reclaimed its place as a gathering spot for the cognoscenti. The 15th-century villa—set on a cypress-covered hillside in Fiesole, Italy, overlooking Florence’s Il Duomo—was once the domain of the Salviati family, who hosted high-society functions at their estate. Opened as a hotel last October, the property preserves its provenance as a private villa, with 61 unique rooms and suites appointed with one-off furnishings, marble fireplaces, mosaics, and antique frescoes. However, all of Il Salviatino’s rooms also feature such high-tech conveniences as LED-lit rain showers and Wi-Fi lighting controls, and each of the all-white Greenhouse Suites has a glass-covered porch that overlooks the property’s restored formal gardens. Telephones in the guest rooms do not have buttons for room service or housekeeping; rather, guests dial one number to reach their personal service ambassador, who caters to their wishes both on- and off-site.
