Robb Report Editors Select The Luxury World's 10 Most Exceptional New Hotels and Resorts

March Issue Offers Consummate Guide To Extraordinary International Travel Destinations

MALIBU, CA– Spanning seven countries on six continents, the 10 most exclusive new hotels and resorts in the world have been selected by the editors of Robb Report, the international luxury lifestyle authority.

Unveiled in the magazine’s March issue, which will hit newsstands on February 20, the special cover story reveals an elite selection of lavish properties that “truly stand out—some of them so new that they are largely undiscovered,” according to Contributing Writer Maryann Hammers, who authored the cover piece.

“Each property is distinctive, reflecting an inimitable sense of color and character,” Ms. Hammers further explains. “All are superlative, offering polished service, luxurious amenities, abundant recreational opportunities, fine dining and spacious suites.”

Listed alphabetically, Robb Report’s selections to this exclusive list include:

Banyan Tree (Seychelles Islands). A tropical paradise, Banyan Tree comprises 36 spacious, secluded villas offering “majestic, unimpeded views of the Indian Ocean, along with outdoor ‘salas’ (traditional Thai raised platforms); private pools; outdoor sunken baths, showers and steam rooms; open-air Jacuzzis; and barbeques ideal for a romantic dinner under the stars.”

Esperanza (Cabo San Lucas, Mexico). The newest Auberge resort, Esperanza “combines Baja’s relaxed sensibilities with five-star luxury. Its warm-hued, palapa-roofed casitas, winding stone pathways, outdoor restaurants, and indoor/outdoor spa spread across 17 lush acres overlooking the Sea of Cortez.”

Island Explorer at the Four Seasons Resort Maldives (Kuda Huraa). Billed as “the world’s most luxurious live-aboard cruise vessel,” the three-deck, 11-cabin catamaran provides guests with a unique opportunity to visit remote shores, view spectacular scenery, and discover rarely visited dive and snorkeling sites while enjoying Four Seasons service, comfort and style.

JW Marriott Phuket Resort and Spa (Thailand). The first resort on beautiful Mai Khao Beach, this property features 27 acres of lush tropical gardens, freshwater ponds, a coastal wetland preserve, and an adjacent sea turtle nesting area. Guests can choose from a diverse range of leisure pursuits, including snorkeling in the Andaman Sea, elephant trekking, and golfing at Asia’s premier 36-hole course.

Longitude 131° (Northern Territory, Australia’s Outback). The first safari-styled camp in Australia’s outback, Longitude 131° “is unlike anything else on the continent.” Consisting of 15 elevated luxury tents, the five-star resort offers gratifying privacy and comfort, while immersing guests in unspoiled wilderness.”

Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park (London). Considered the place to stay in London, this century-old landmark was recently reopened by the Mandarin Oriental group, which “restored the grand hotel to all of its Victorian splendor.” An extensive list of highlights include the Michelin-starred restaurant “Foliage,” a sophisticated bar and an acclaimed spa.

The Ritz-Carlton New York (Central Park). Situated within walking distance of Fifth Avenue’s shops, boutiques and cultural attractions, this new hotel “raises five star luxury to new heights.” Incomparable service is offered by the guest’s “personal ambassador” while the chief concierge can arrange anything from birthday parties at FAO Schwarz to helicopter tours. The Ritz-Carlton is also home to Atelier, one of Manhattan’s most elite new restaurants, as well as La Prairie spa, renowned for its rejuvenating treatments.

Sanctuary on Camelback Mountain (Paradise Valley, Arizona). Beyond an extensive list of exceptional features such as an indoor/outdoor Asian spa, reflecting pond and Watsu immersion pool, Sanctuary is gaining widespread notoriety for its selection of special medical and anti-aging services. Partnering with some of Arizona’s premier physicians and medical centers, Sanctuary enables guests to enjoy the growing trend of “procedure vacations,” such as vein removal or skin treatments, coupled with a spa and resort package.”

The St. Regis Monarch Beach Resort & Spa (Dana Point, California). A stunning combination of California casual, Mediterranean ambience and Tuscan-inspired architecture, The St. Regis “evokes the grandeur and grace of a Renaissance painting.” When guests aren’t relaxing in magnificent suites or enjoying a luxuriant spa treatment, they can satiate their appetites in any of the resort’s eight restaurants, including the award-winning Aqua.

Temenos (Anguilla, British West Indies). Overlooking the pristine sands of Long Bay Beach and the Caribbean Sea’s turquoise waters, Temenos offers a level of privacy that is virtually unmatched. The resort consists of three ultra-luxurious villas, ranging from 6,500 to 7,000 square feet. Each has its own courtyard flanked by pools, fountains, expansive stone decks and outdoor dining pavilions. Spectacular interiors boast expansive living and dining areas, master suites with private terraces, marble indoor/outdoor bathrooms and state-of-the-art technologies.

“Given the considerable number of luxury resorts that have opened in the past two years, we felt that this was the ideal time for this cover story,” stated Brett Anderson, Robb Report’s senior vice president and editorial director. “These ten properties personify the very finest that they world has to offer.”

Now in its 27th year, Robb Report is the international authority on the luxury lifestyle. Each month, the magazine reports on issues and trends affecting the affluent market, with coverage of exclusive events and features on exceptional automobiles, motorcycles, aircraft, art, jewelry, watches, fashion, travel, homes, wines, spirits and cigars.
