Off-Road Vehicle: Icon CJ3B

Among the ranks of vintage and classic off-road vehicles, less than a handful of models deserve to be labeled iconic. The Willys CJ is one of these, which is why Jonathan Ward, owner and designer of California-based Icon, chose to build his own interpretation of that 1950s-era Jeep, the Icon CJ3B. Although Icon established its business around restoring and re-creating the best examples of Toyota’s FJ Series Land Cruisers, Ward chose to pursue the CJ3B project to reinforce the brand’s reputation for making simple, reliable, versatile vehicles. The Icon CJ3B comes with a GM-sourced 2.4-?liter 4-cylinder engine and is handbuilt using a custom-designed chassis, coil-over suspension with Eibach springs and Fox reservoir shocks, and heavily modified Jeep Wrangler Rubicon axles. Production is limited: Only 10 examples of the vehicle, which starts at $79,000, will be built.
