BMW 750Li

The long-wheelbase version of BMW’s new 7 Series is designed for those who prefer to be chauffeured, but those looking for the biggest and best BMW 7 Series should turn to the 760Li. Just as you should never judge a book by its cover, you should also never judge a car solely on its exterior design. While the 6-liter V-12 version looks virtually identical to the standard BMW 750Li—apart from discreet V12 badges on the front fenders and rectangular quad exhausts—its power and handling prowess negate the need for any additional road presence. The understated exterior panels intentionally belie the true nature of this very special car. The rear-wheel-drive four-door reaches 60 mph in a mere 4.5 seconds—in the same time it takes the sportier BMW M3—and shares BMW’s first 8-speed automatic transmission with the forthcoming Rolls-Royce Ghost, which provides both smooth and sporty gear changes. Additionally, the 6-liter turbocharged V-12 engine is a derivative of the 6.6-liter version coming in the baby Rolls and with 535 horsepower and 550 foot-pounds of torque the 760Li produces strikingly similar power. For those looking for luxury on a Rolls-Royce level, but who do not need an attention-grabbing exterior design, the 760Li is awaiting your order.

Pros: A Rolls-Royce in sheep's clothing.
Cons: Understated styling is borderline boring for a range-topping model.
