The “LP560-4” badges on the Lamborghini Gallardo the car’s mid-mounted V-10 engine, whose direct injection results in an output of 552 hp, or 560 brake hp. The LP560-4’s lightweight suspension components render a 44-pound weight reduction (lightweight carbon-ceramic brakes are $10,000 options) over the previous generation, but more serious drivers may find themselves happier behind the wheel of the limited-edition Gallardo 550-2 Valentino Balboni. As the first rear-wheel drive Lamborghini to leave the factory in roughly 20 years, the Balboni-edition Gallardo was designed as a namesake for the brand's most loyal (and recently retired) factory worker and test driver and will be limited to a production run of 250. And if that still seems a bit too tame, then the forthcoming Lamborghini Gallardo SuperVeloce should be enough to whet the appetite of those who constantly hunger for more power.
Pros: Comfortable enough to be considered a daily driver; fast enough to go head-to-head with the best.
Cons: Doesn't come with the trademark Lamborghini scissor doors.
