540 Sundancer

Sea Ray's new 540 Sundancer crosses the divide between boxy American boats and too-sleek Euro-cruisers with a body that is lithe but not too slender. It's a handsome-looking boat in profile and quite spacious through the cockpit and below in the interior. Part of the reason for the extra space below is due to the twin 600-hp Cummins-MerCruiser diesels with Zeus pod drives. The innovative propulsion system frees up space in the cabin, making it seem like a much larger and lighter interior, while also making it easy to maneuver the boat. A joystick control can spin the boat on its own axis. This boat, launched last year, was well received by American boaters who wanted speed, comfort, and easy maneuvering in a stylish express cruiser.
