The Inn at Palmetto Bluff

Bicycles (provided free of charge to Palmetto Bluff guests) are the vehicles of choice for exploring this 20,000-acre property. The resort, which shares the expansive tract with a golf club, a small village, and a new residential development, consists of a collection of hipped-metal-roof cottages scattered throughout a Southern Gothic landscape of manicured grasses and moss-draped oaks. Accommodations Ranging from 1,140 to 1,340 square feet, the 42 cottages and eight cottage suites feature screened-in porches, fireplaces, and ample living space. Recreation The Jack Nicklaus–designed May River Golf Club cuts unobtrusively through the low country’s wetlands and centuries-old oak trees. Dining The 90-seat River House (breakfast and dinner) specializes in seafood. The golf club’s May River Grill serves lunch, and Buffalo’s in the village square offers breakfast, lunch, and, after 6 p.m., ice cream and sodas. Worthy Diversion Schedule a tennis match or a private lesson at the resort’s new Wilson Sports Campus, which includes eight Har-Tru courts. Rates From $450 to $650 in the winter and summer low seasons, and from $625 to $825 in the high season. Two- to four-bedroom homes begin at $700 per night.
