Lesson number one at The Peninsula is that not everyone in Los Angeles works in the entertainment industry. True, half of the customers at the Club Bar—a handsome space with birch-paneled walls and an extensive selection of wines by the glass—are Hollywood celebrities and their agents, but service at the establishment clearly is not the product of out-of-work actors. In fact, each of the hotel’s 475 staff members comes across as a legitimate professional of the hospitality industry. Accommodations The 196 rooms include 36 suites and 16 private villas. Set within a tropical garden, the 2,336-square-foot the Peninsula Villa features a kitchen, a dining room that seats 10, a terrace with a Jacuzzi, and two upstairs bedrooms. Facilities The rooftop pool area, which affords views of Beverly Hills and Century City, has 10 private cabanas and is adjacent to a spa and fitness center. Capacity in the hotel’s four conference rooms ranges from 20 to 200 guests. Dining Contemporary American cuisine (macaroni and cheese with truffles) in a French country-style setting at the Belvedere. Enjoy pre- and post-dinner drinks at the Club Bar, afternoon tea in the Living Room, and pool- and spa-side Dining at the Roof Garden. Concierge Recommends Peer at celestial bodies through high-powered telescopes at L.A.’s Griffith Observatory.
