Sneak Peek: Mandarin Oriental, Paris

Jill Newman

The much-anticipated Mandarin Oriental, Paris opened its doors on Rue Saint-Honoré the last week of June. It features 138 guest rooms, including 39 suites, some of which won’t be ready for occupancy until late July. At the center of the sprawling property is an expansive outdoor courtyard decorated with an abundance of greenery, and ample seating for outdoor dining and cocktails. The hotel presents many unique features in a city crowded with fine hotels, including a luxurious spa with a hammam and 15-meter swimming pool, suites with large outdoor terraces, and several dining options, all under the guidance of two-star Michelin chef Thierry Marx, the hotel’s culinary director. His dining venues include Sur Mesure par Thierry Marx, a gourmet dining experience with elaborate nine- and 11-course meals; Camélia, serving a regional French menu; and Bar 8, a stylish bar. Rates start at about $1,000 and go up to $28,000 for an expansive suite. (+33.1.70.98.78.88, www.mandarinoriental.com)
