Zegna Debuts a New Watch with Italian-Flavored Archetypes

James D. Malcolmson

Ermenegildo Zegna’s latest watches, an entry-level chronograph and diver’s watch, seem plucked from the collective subconscious of Italian watch enthusiasts over the last several decades. Named for the brand’s famous lightweight wool, the High Performance watches are built sparingly with the basic features that have made these sporty watch types popular. The ceramic-cased Chrono ($5,700) is a basic three-subdial layout with a tachymetric scale. The Sea Diver ($3,200) is naturally dominated by the solid unidirectional bezel that defines the genre. The watches, like the brand’s previous efforts in the category, are made in conjunction with Sowind Group (Girard-Perregaux). (888.880.3462, www.zegna.com)
