Song Saa Private Island Offers New Ways to Delve into Cambodia’s Natural Resources

Christina Garofalo

Now through October 31, guests who book any villa at the Song Saa Private Island resort in Cambodia can take advantage of a three-, five-, or seven-night wellness retreat included in the cost of their stay (rates start at $1,336 per night for a one-bedroom jungle villa). Song Saa designed its Season of Wellness program to tap into the natural resources of the largely undeveloped island chain where it is situated, including physical activities and new spa and food menus that incorporate ingredients from local rain forests, organic farms, and the sea.

Itineraries can include a paddleboarding trip through mangrove clusters at sunrise, a hike across the deserted Koh Rong island followed by a picnic lunch on the beach, and private yoga classes and meditation sessions. Song Saa’s new treatment menu features restorative and detoxifying facials, massages said to activate the chakras, herbal clay baths, marine-mineral body wraps, and body scrubs, and even night spa treatments given under the stars, which can be arranged for an additional cost anywhere on the island until 11 pm. As a part of the package, guests can also take advantage of one-on-one health and wellness consultations, as well as healthy-cooking classes with the resort’s new executive chef, Christian Hinckley.
