"America's Faberge," Andreas von Zadora will launch a revolutionary collection of watches. By turning time on its side, Zadora has truly changed the face of time and transformed it into a unique stage for his most superb precious gemstone sculptures.
Already the world's foremost gemstone artist, this is the first time Zadora has made a foray into watch making. However, Zadora is anything but conventional, and his watches are ground-breaking in every way, from their conception to their execution. Famed not only for his gemstone sculptures, but also for his fanciful mechanical objects, watches are a natural and exciting progression.
The foundation of Zadora's art is in his unique training; not only at classical centres of excellence, but also at the hands of the North American Haida Indians. This invaluable guidance added to his own aesthetic has resulted in work which is highly prized by billionaires, aristocrats, heads of state and royalty the world over. Combining exquisite artistry, exceptional craftsmanship, and charming whimsy, he has created something beyond jewelery, beyond a simple watch, he has created truly wearable art. These are works of great beauty that also happen to tell the time.
The collection comprises twelve unique watches. Perhaps the most enchanting is the golden, diamond-crowned frog, a fairytale motif that frequently occurs in Zadora's work. Also typical is the delightful crowned bumble-bee, but some of the designs also take in a darker side, including a skull, set in gem-strewn sand, and a dangerously beautiful scorpion, paved with 1,400 anthracite-coloured diamonds.
Of course the mechanism of the watches is beyond reproach, Zadora's pieces represent excellence from the visible to the unseen. The movements were developed by one of the most respected watchmakers in the industry, from Switzerland. The watches will only be made in a painstakingly exclusive edition of 50 per year.
Zadora's art is boundless in its field of imagination. Anything is possible in his world of bejewelled masterpieces, and he revels in creating the most challenging private commissions.
